The Community Hub & Resources

Your gateway to news, stories, events, playbooks, people, and a free library of business resources and funding opportunities.

Community & Conversations/communityCommunityScreen

What the Community hub is

The Community section brings together everything beyond the business directory: news from the community, success stories, events, owner playbooks, member discovery, and a resource library.

Web: The Community area has its own navigation: Home, News, Events, Stories, Playbooks, Resources, People, Careers, and Academy.

Mobile: Tap the Community tab at the bottom of the app to find four tabs: News, Stories, Resources, and People. (Events has its own bottom tab on mobile.)

One promise worth knowing: WABA's community is built as a safe space. We don't sell your data or show you targeted ads — what you see is chosen by the community, not by an algorithm trying to keep you scrolling.

Browsing the Resources library

Resources is a library of guides, templates, playbooks, and tools — especially useful if you run or dream of running a business.

  1. Open Community → Resources.
  2. Scroll the list, or use the Search resources... box to find something specific.
  3. Open Filters to narrow by category (like Business Guides, Financial Tools, or Legal Resources) and by format. Tap Clear All Filters to reset.

You'll see two kinds of cards:

  • Resource — downloadable tools and links that open in a new tab.
  • Guide — in-depth articles that open right inside WABA.

Each card shows the author, a short description, and community activity like likes and comments.

Note: Most resources are free and open to everyone. A few are marked for premium members — you'll see "Premium membership required to open this resource." on those, or a prompt to sign in so WABA can check what your membership unlocks.

Funding opportunities

The funding catalog — marked Early access — lists external grants and scholarships with their sources and deadlines. WABA links you to the official provider and doesn't collect application data itself.

Web: On the funding opportunities page, search by title, provider, eligibility, or location, and filter by type (Grants or Scholarships), category, geography, eligibility group, and deadline (closing within 30, 60, or 90 days).

Playbooks

Playbooks are skills that business owners have published to share with the community — each card shows the owner's skill and the first line of their story. Anyone can read them from Community → Playbooks on the web.

Note: Use this skill on a playbook copies it into a business's own tools, so it's for business owners with a WABA business.

Interacting with content

  • Tap the heart on a resource or guide to like it (sign-in required).
  • Open an individual resource to read and leave comments, where the author has enabled them.
  • On mobile, detail screens have a share option that can post the item to your profile Wall for friends to see.

Contributing and meeting people

The People section is where you discover other members, see suggestions for people you may know, and manage friend requests. It requires sign-in — see the friends guide for the full walkthrough.

Have something to add? Buttons on the web community pages send it straight to the WABA team: Host an event, Suggest a resource, and Share your story. Each opens a short contact form — add your name, email, and a message, then click Send message.

You may also spot an invitation to share Community Insight — a short, optional survey that helps shape what WABA builds next.
