Friends, Requests & Blocking
Find people, send and answer friend requests, feature your top friends, and block anyone you'd rather not hear from.
How friendships work
Friendships on WABA are mutual — you send a request, the other person accepts, and you're connected both ways. Friends see each other in their friends lists, can message freely, and show up in each other's community experience.
Note: If someone has already sent you a request and you send one back, you're instantly friends — no waiting.
Finding people
Web: Go to Community → People. You'll see Meet the community. with a search box ("Search for people by name or email...") and four tabs: Discover, Friends, Friend Requests, and Blocked Users. Discover includes People You May Know — suggestions that highlight mutual friends and members in your city or state.
Mobile: Open the Community tab and choose People to see People You May Know and search members by name. Tap anyone to open their profile. Your own friends list is under My Account → Quick Access → Friends.
Search needs at least two characters, and you must be signed in to browse people.
Sending, accepting, and declining requests
To send a request:
- Open someone's profile and tap or click Add Friend (on the web People page, cards show Send Request).
- The button changes to Request Sent (web) or Request Pending (mobile) while they decide. They get a notification and an email.
To answer requests you've received:
- On the web, open Community → People → Friend Requests — or open the person's profile, which shows Accept and Decline. On mobile, open your Friends screen and tap Requests (it shows a badge with the pending count).
- Each request shows the person's photo and name with Accept and Decline buttons. Mobile asks you to confirm a decline.
- Declining quietly removes the request — the other person isn't notified.
Removing a friend
Open the person's profile and use Remove Friend. This disconnects you both ways. On the web it happens right away; the app asks you to confirm first. They aren't notified, but you'll no longer appear in each other's friends lists. You can always send a new request later.
Blocking someone
Blocking removes any existing friendship and stops the person from seeing your profile, messaging you, or sending friend requests.
Mobile: On their profile, tap the ⋯ menu in the top corner and choose Block user, then confirm. The same menu also has Report user if their behavior breaks community guidelines.
Web: On their profile, open the ⋯ menu and choose Block User. It takes effect immediately.
To unblock someone on the web, go to Community → People → Blocked Users and click Unblock next to their name. On mobile, open My Account → Blocked Users and tap Unblock.
Top Friends
You can feature up to 5 friends on your profile, and your #1 pick gets a special crown badge.
Web: Go to Settings → Friends (or Manage Top Friends on your profile) to pick and order them. Only accepted friends can be added, and friends aren't notified when you add or remove them.
If you don't set Top Friends, your profile simply shows your first few friends.
