Your Profile & How to Edit It

What other members see on your profile, and how to update your photo, banner, bio, status, and location.

What's on your profile

Your profile is your home base in the community. Other members can see:

  • Your photo and name, plus any badges you've earned
  • A status — a short message with an emoji, like an away message
  • Your bio and location (location shows only if your privacy settings allow it)
  • Your Wall — a feed of stories, events, news, and resources you've shared, where friends can comment
  • Activity stats like your friend count, posts, and how long you've been a member

Web: Open your profile from your avatar menu → View My Profile. It also has a banner image across the top and a Top Friends section in the sidebar.

Mobile: Open the My Account tab and tap your profile card, or My Wall under Quick Access.

Editing your profile on mobile

  1. Open your profile and tap Edit Profile.
  2. Tap your avatar ("Tap to change photo") to pick a new photo from your library. You can crop it square before saving.
  3. Update your Name (required), Bio (up to 500 characters), and Location (city, state).
  4. Optionally add a Contact Email — WABA sends your email there instead of your sign-in address, which can't be changed.
  5. Tap Save in the top corner.

Note: If the app can't access your photos, you'll see a "Photo Access Off" message with an Open Settings button to grant permission.

Setting a status

A status is a quick way to tell friends what you're up to.

Mobile: Open Edit Profile and tap the status area to open Set Status. Type a short message (up to 80 characters), pick an emoji, and choose when it should disappear under Clear after — from 30 minutes to This week, or Don't clear. Use Clear Status any time to remove it.

Web: On your own profile, click Update status. Pick a Status emoji, write a Status message (up to 100 characters), choose Clear status after — 1, 4, 8, or 24 hours, or Don't clear automatically — and click Save status.

Editing your profile on the web

On your own profile, click Edit Profile to change:

  • Display Name (up to 50 characters)
  • Bio (up to 200 characters in this editor)
  • Location — start typing and pick from address suggestions
  • Profile Photo — use the camera button on your avatar. Square images work best; minimum 200x200 pixels, up to 10MB, in JPG, PNG, or WebP.

Then click Save Changes. You can also edit your name, bio, location, and contact email in Settings → Profile.

To change the banner, click Add banner or Edit banner — 1200x300 pixels is recommended, up to 5MB, in JPEG, PNG, or WebP — then Save banner.

Your own profile also shows a Privacy & Visibility card so you can see at a glance what's visible to others, and Manage Top Friends to feature up to 5 friends.

Tips

  • A real photo and a sentence or two of bio make people far more likely to accept your friend requests.
  • Your Wall fills up as you share content — use the Share button on stories, events, and news articles to post them to your profile.
  • Filling out your location helps the app suggest people and businesses near you.
