Shopping & Buying from Businesses
Browse products and services from Black-owned businesses, pay securely on WABA where a business sells online, and request rental stays.
Where to shop
Many businesses list their products and services on WABA, and some let you buy right here.
Web: Open Shop in the main menu — All products & services, or just Products or Services. On a business page, click View all products & services to see that business's catalog.
Mobile: Tap the shopping-bag button on the Home tab, or View all products & services on a business page.
Note: On the web, the Shop page currently asks you to sign in before it opens. A business's own catalog, linked from its page, is open to everyone.
Browsing the Shop
The Shop ("Buy from Black-owned businesses") mixes offerings from across the directory:
- Filter by All, Products, or Services, and turn on Buy on WABA only to hide items you can't buy here.
- Each card shows whether it's a product or service, the price, the business and its city, and either Buy on WABA or View details.
- Click Load more to keep browsing.
A single business's catalog works the same way, with its own search box and the same All / Products / Services filters. Availability shows on each card — Available, Limited, or Unavailable — and a note appears if the catalog may be out of date.
Buying an item
Open an item to see its details and availability, then look at the button:
- Buy now — the business sells this on WABA. Choose a quantity and click Buy now. You'll go to secure checkout powered by Stripe; sales tax is added there.
- Continue to business website — the business sells it on its own site.
- Message Business — the item isn't sold on WABA yet; message the business to order, book, or ask about it.
- Request a stay — for rentals (see below).
After you pay, you're brought back to your order page: "Thank you — your order is confirmed" with the items, subtotal, shipping, tax, and total. Questions about an order go to the business directly.
Mobile: Buy on WABA opens checkout in your phone's browser, one item at a time. Rental requests and messaging from an item are web-only.
Requesting a rental stay
Some businesses list rentals priced by the night, week, or month. On the item's page on the web:
- Find the Request a stay card — it shows the minimum stay.
- Pick your check-in and check-out dates on the calendar. Dates that aren't available are greyed out.
- Click Request these dates.
WABA doesn't take payment for rentals — your request is sent to the business as a message with your dates, and the conversation opens in your Messages so you can sort out the details together.
Requires: You must be signed in to request a stay.
