Searching Near You & Nearby Alerts

Find the businesses closest to you, search a 50-mile area you pick on the map, and save that search as an alert for new matches.

Discovering Businesses/directoryDirectoryScreen

Businesses near you

Open the Directory without typing a search and you'll see Near you — the closest Black-owned businesses within 50 miles, closest first.

Web: If you've already allowed location for WABA in your browser, the cards fill in automatically. Otherwise click Use my location. Without a location, the page shows featured or nearby businesses instead, plus a quick category grid to get you started.

Mobile: In the Directory tab, tap Near Me to limit results to within 50 miles, with a distance on each card.

Searching an area on the map

Web: On the Directory, switch to the map and pick your own search centre:

  1. Click Select search center. A crosshair appears — move the map so the crosshair sits where you want to search.
  2. Click Use this center. A preview shows the 50-mile radius.
  3. Click Search this area. Results are limited to that circle, and a chip reads "Search area: 50 miles around…" — remove it like any other filter.

You can also click a state on the map to filter results to that state. Numbered markers group nearby businesses; each card in the list is one business.

Saving a nearby alert

Want to hear when new businesses appear in an area? Save the search as an alert.

Requires: You must be signed in, and the search needs a map centre (web) or Near Me turned on (mobile).

Web: After Search this area, click Save nearby alert. Give it an Alert name, choose how often to Check for matches — Hourly, Daily, or Weekly — and click Save alert.

Mobile: With Near Me on, tap Save nearby alert. Mobile alerts check daily.

To manage alerts, open Saved alerts (it shows how many you have). From Saved nearby alerts you can pause, resume, or delete each one.
