Global Search

Search businesses, events, news, and stories from one box in the mobile app — and know where to search on the web.

AI & SearchGlobalSearchScreen

One search box for everything (mobile)

The mobile app has a global search that looks across the whole platform at once. Tap the Search businesses... bar at the top of the Home tab and start typing — results appear after two characters, grouped into sections:

  • Businesses — with category and city
  • Events — upcoming events matching your words
  • News — community articles
  • Stories — success stories

Tap any result to jump straight to it.

Recent searches

Before you type, the screen shows your Recent Searches — up to your last 8 queries, saved privately on your device. Tap one to run it again, or hit Clear to wipe the list.

Searching on the web

Web: The web doesn't have a single global search box — each section has its own, tuned to its content:

  • Directory — one box that understands names, categories, and places together
  • Events — the community events search (it even matches speakers)
  • News and Stories — search bars in each section
  • People — the search on the Community People page

Or skip typing altogether: ask Ujima anything, and it searches businesses, events, and news for you in one conversation.

Search tips

  • Two characters is the minimum, but three or more gives much better matches.
  • Try category words ("barber", "yoga"), city names, or a business name fragment.
  • No luck? Check spelling, go broader, or switch to the section's own search — the Directory's search has location and filter powers global search doesn't.
