Claiming Your Business Listing

Own a business that's already listed on WABA? Claim it to take control of your profile and unlock business tools after approval.

What claiming means

Many businesses were added to the directory from public sources before their owners joined. Claiming connects your account to your listing so you can manage the profile and keep its details accurate after WABA confirms your ownership or authorization to manage it.

Claiming happens in three stages: find your business, confirm a code sent to the listing's contact email, then a review by the WABA team.

Requires: You must be signed in to claim a business.

Starting a claim

Web: Go to the Claim page, search for your business by name or city (at least two characters), and click Claim next to it. Or open your business's page and click Claim your listing in the "Is this your business?" strip.

Mobile: Open your business's page in the Directory and tap the Own this business? Claim it to manage your listing card.

If your business isn't in the directory at all, use Apply to be listed on the web Claim page — fill in the business name, your name, and email (plus optional details) and click Submit application. The team reviews new applications, usually within a few business days.

Filling out the claim form

The web form is grouped into three cards:

  1. About you — your Full Name, Email Address (locked to your signed-in account email), optional phone, your role or title, and your relationship to the business.
  2. Proof of ownership — verification happens by email, so there's nothing required here. You can strengthen your claim with an official website, Proof Links (public links to a license, utility bill, or lease), Upload Proof Documents (PDF, PNG, or JPG, up to 10MB each), and notes. Check "I confirm that I am the owner or authorized representative of this business" — false claims can lead to account suspension.
  3. Stay in touch — an optional newsletter opt-in (unticked by default), then Submit Claim.

Note: The email you use must match the business listing's contact email — that's where the code goes. If the listing has no email on file, you'll be offered Request a manual claim review to reach the team instead.

Mobile: The app collects your name, email, phone, role, relationship, website, and notes — no file uploads — and the submit button stays disabled until you tick the confirmation box.

Entering your verification code

After submitting, WABA emails a 10-character code (letters and numbers) to the listing's contact email.

  1. Enter the code on the verification screen (on mobile, the code field appears right after you submit).
  2. Codes expire after 24 hours — use Resend Verification Code (Resend code in the app) if yours lapses. You can resend up to three times an hour.
  3. Once the code is confirmed you'll see: "Code confirmed. Thanks — we've received your claim. You'll be notified after review."

Note: Five wrong codes within 15 minutes locks the claim for 15 minutes — wait it out rather than guessing.

What happens next

Confirming the code doesn't grant ownership instantly — the WABA team reviews every claim to protect businesses from false claims.

  • While waiting, reopening the claim shows Claim Under Review — you don't need to submit another.
  • When approved, you're notified, your account becomes the listing's manager, and business tools unlock in your dashboard.
  • If the claim needs more evidence or the code expired, reopening the claim page explains why and lets you submit a new claim when you're ready.
